I made this site because I want to raise awareness
of Asperger's Syndrome. I went through hell when I was in school because I didn't know I had it until I was 17 so I didn't
know who I was, nobody around me picked up on it and the other kids didn't understand me at all. I had hardly any friends
until I met my best friend during sixth form and, I was picked on a lot and I don't want other people to go through that.
I found an amazing best friend during sixth form who took me for what I am and
stuck by me through thick and thin so I feel I'm pretty lucky despite everything but there are people out there without friends
and so I really want to raise awareness of Asperger's syndrome and help people to understand it.
I don't let having Asperger's syndrome bother me because it makes me who I am. Without
it I wouldn't be me, I'd be someone else. The key is to work with it, not against it.
My job as a teaching assistant has helped me no end. My confidence has come on leaps
and bounds, I'm doing much more stuff than I used to, I've got friends who accept me for being me - Asperger's and all and
it's all thanks to my boss for sticking with me, keeping faith in me. She stuck by me and when I lost my job made
a promise to bring me back if a job came up and she stuck to her promise and that means so much to me. I can't thank her enough.
Thankyou!!
